- 2 c. boiling water
- 2 c. all-bran
- 1 c. chopped dates
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 3 c. sugar
- 1 1/3 c. shortening
- 4 eggs
- 1 qt. buttermilk
- 5 c. flour
- 5 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 c. all-bran
Directions

1Pour 2 cups of boiling water over 2 cups all-bran, dates and nuts and let cool for 10 minutes.

2Cream together the sugar, shortening, eggs and all-bran mixture.

3Add buttermilk, flour, soda, salt and 4 cups all-bran.

4Mix well.

5Refrigerate.

6Bake at 375° for 20 minutes.

7Use as needed.

8Keeps in refrigerator for 4 to 6 weeks.
