Ingredients

  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 2 c. all-bran
  • 1 c. chopped dates
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 1/3 c. shortening
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 qt. buttermilk
  • 5 c. flour
  • 5 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 c. all-bran

Directions

    Pour 2 cups of boiling water over 2 cups all-bran, dates and nuts and let cool for 10 minutes.

    Cream together the sugar, shortening, eggs and all-bran mixture.

    Add buttermilk, flour, soda, salt and 4 cups all-bran.

    Mix well.

    Refrigerate.

    Bake at 375° for 20 minutes.

    Use as needed.
