  • 1/2 c. Kellogg's All Bran
  • 1 c. buttermilk or soured sweet milk
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. soft shortening
  • 1/2 c. chopped dates (optional)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. instant Ralston
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 c. raisins (optional)
  • 1/2 c. drained crushed pineapple (optional)

Directions

    Combine sugar, salt, egg and shortening.

    Cream; add milk, then flour, baking powder, soda, then choice of fruit.

    Just blend in, don't beat, after creaming.

    Fill muffin pans 2/3 full. Bake at 400° for 20 to 30 minutes.
