- 2 c. boiling water
- 2 c. Bran Buds cereal
- 1 c. shortening
- 3 c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 qt. buttermilk
- 5 c. flour
- 5 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 c. bran flakes
- raisins (optional)
Directions

1Pour boiling water over Bran Buds and let cool.

2Cream shortening and sugar, then add eggs, one at a time.

3Sift together the flour, soda and salt.

4Add these dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk.

5Add cooled Bran Buds and fold in bran flakes and raisins.

6Bake 15 minutes at 375°.

7Makes 6 dozen.

8The batter keeps 2 weeks in refrigerator.
