- 2 c. milk (I use reconstituted dry milk)
- 1 cake yeast or 1 pkg. dry granular
- 6 c. flour
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
Directions

1Scald the milk. Add sugar, salt and shortening. Cool to lukewarm.

2Soften yeast in 1/4 cup lukewarm water and add to milk mixture. Add flour gradually, mixing well, to make a stiff dough. Turn out on lightly floured board and knead until smooth and elastic.

3Place in greased bowl. Cover and let rise until doubled in bulk.

4Punch down and let rise again.

5Punch down and make into loaves.

6Will make 2 regular size loaves or 3 small ones.

7Let rise until doubled in bulk.

8Bake in hot oven at 400° for 40 to 45 minutes.
