Ingredients
- 1 oz. yeast
- 2 Tbsp. lukewarm water
- 1 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 heaping Tbsp. lard
- 1 c. water
- 6 c. flour
Directions

1Soften yeast in lukewarm water, then scald milk.

2Add sugar, salt, shortening and water.

3Allow to cool to lukewarm.

4Add yeast and mix.

5Add flour gradually and mix.
-
6Knead dough until spongy, then put in bowl and let rise to double in bulk.

7Punch down and let rise again.

8Divide in two equal portions.

9Form into loaves. Place in greased loaf pans.

10Let rise until double in bulk.

11Bake at 400° for 35 to 45 minutes or until done.
