Ingredients
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 eggs
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- filling (apple, cherry, peach, prune or poppy seed)
Directions

1Mix in a large bowl 1 1/2 cups flour, 1/4 cup sugar, salt and dry yeast.

2Heat milk, water and shortening until warm (120° to 130°).

3Pour into flour mixture.

4Add eggs and beat with mixer at low speed for 1/2 minute.

5Continue beating for 3 minutes at high speed.

6Stir in 3 1/2 cups flour.

7Dough will be soft.

8Knead for about 3 minutes.

9Let rest 10 minutes.

10Shape with a dent in the center.

11Fill as desired.

12Let rise in a warm place, about 40 to 60 minutes.

13Bake at 375° for 15 minutes.
