- 3 c. milk, scalded
- 2 rounded Tbsp. shortening
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 yeast cake
- 1/4 c. water
- 2 tsp. salt
- 7 or 9 c. flour
Directions

1Put shortening, sugar and salt in a large bowl.

2Pour in scalded milk.

3Stir until shortening is softened and lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water. Add to milk about 5 cups of flour.

4Stir until all flour is moistened. Add yeast. Beat until dough is shiny. Add enough flour to make soft dough

5that can be handled.

6Turn out on floured surface and knead until smooth.

7Put in greased bowl twice to grease all over. Cover with waxed paper and clock.

8Let rise until double in bulk, from 1 to 2 hours.
