Bread Pudding With Amaretto

  • 1 loaf stale French bread
  • 1 qt. milk
  • 4 jumbo eggs
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 2 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 c. Amaretto

Directions

    Break the bread up and soak it in milk in a bowl for 1 hour. Mix in 4 eggs, 2 cups sugar, raisins, cinnamon and vanilla.

    Pour into a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.

    Bake at 350° for 1 hour.

    Blend 3/4 cup of sugar and butter in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly.

    Stir in one egg.

    Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

    Remove from heat and add Amaretto.

    Spoon over warm bread pudding.
