- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1/3 c. softened shortening
- 1 c. warm water
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 2 1/4 c. bread flour
- butter
Directions

1In a large bowl sprinkle dry yeast.

2Add sugar, salt and shortening.

3Stir.

4Then add water and egg.

5Beat dough quick with spoon 25 strokes.

6Cover bowl with towel and let rise for 2 to 4 hours.

7Push down.

8Add enough flour to handle.

9Knead gently for 2 to 3 minutes.

10Pinch off and make into rolls.

11Place into baking pan and let rise 2 hours or more.

12Bake at 375° for 20 minutes or until brown.
