  • 8 slices bread, cubed
  • 12 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 lb. grated Cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 lb. sausage, cooked and drained
  • 1 (4 oz.) can sliced mushrooms, drained

Directions

    In bowl, beat eggs, butter and milk together. In a 9 x 13-inch buttered casserole dish, layer bread cubes, half of cheese, sausage and mushrooms. Pour egg mixture over all and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Cover and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight. Bake, covered, in 350° oven for 45 minutes. For glass dish, bake at 325°. Serves 8 to 10 people.
