Ingredients

  • 1 lb. pkg. ground sausage, cooked, drained and crumbled
  • 4 c. seasoned croutons
  • 2 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 10 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 4 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. onion powder
  • pepper to taste
  • 1/2 c. sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • 1/2 c. peeled chopped tomatoes (optional)

Directions

    Place croutons in well buttered 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with cheese. Combine the next 6 ingredients. Pour evenly over croutons and cheese. Sprinkle sausage and optional ingredients over the top. Cover and chill overnight. Preheat oven to 325°. Bake, uncovered, for about 1 hour. Tent with foil if top begins to brown too quickly. Serves 6.
