  • 12 slices sandwich bread
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 2 1/2 c. milk
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • dash of dry mustard
  • dash of seasoned salt
  • 3/4 lb. Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • parsley, chopped (as garnish)

Directions

    Trim crusts from bread and cut into cubes.

    Beat eggs and milk; add seasonings.

    Lightly butter a 2-quart casserole.

    Line bottom with 1/2 of the bread cubes and sprinkle with 1/3 of the cheese.

    Repeat cheese and bread layers, then pour milk and egg mixture over all.

    Bake at 350° for 50 minutes. Remove from oven. Top with remaining cheese and sprinkle with parsley.

    Return to oven and bake 10 minutes more. Serves 8.
