- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. Arm & Hammer baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 4 Tbsp. shortening, melted
Directions

1Sift flour once; measure.

2Add baking soda, salt and sugar and sift again.

3Combine milk, egg and shortening.

4Add to flour mixture, stirring only enough to blend.

5Turn into greased muffin tins.

6Bake in hot oven (425°) for 20 to 25 minutes.

7Makes 12 muffins.
