Ingredients

  • 2 c. sifted self-rising flour
  • 1 egg
  • 2 to 4 Tbsp. melted shortening
  • 1 c. sweet milk

Directions

    Mix milk and beaten egg and add dry ingredients.

    Add melted shortening.

    Beat well for only a few seconds.

    Fill greased muffin tins about 1/2 or 2/3 full.

    Bake in moderate oven (375° to 400°) for 20 to 25 minutes.

    May be prepared and refrigerated overnight.

    Serve with plenty of butter.
