Broccoli-Onion Deluxe

  • 2 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen cut broccoli
  • 2 c. frozen or canned whole small onions
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
  • 1 c. bread crumbs
  • 1/4 c. (1 oz.) grated Parmesan cheese
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

    Cook broccoli according to package directions.

    Drain.

    Cook onions in boiling salted water until tender.

    If frozen onions are used, drain.

    In saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons butter.

    Blend in flour, salt and pepper.

    Add milk all at once.

    Cook, stirring, until thick and bubbly.

    Reduce heat and blend in cream cheese until smooth.

    Stir in vegetables.

    Place mixture in a 1 1/2-quart casserole and bake for 20 minutes at 350°.

    Melt remaining butter. Toss with bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese and sprinkle over casserole.
