- 1 large bunch broccoli (including stalks)
- 3 c. boiling water
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 5 Tbsp. flour
- 12 oz. can evaporated milk
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. onion powder
- 10 to 15 slices Velveeta cheese
Directions

1Strips off stems and fibrous outer peel of broccoli stalks; cut into pieces, flowerets and stalks.

2Place broccoli in large heavy saucepan and add boiling water and cook for 10 to 12 minutes.

3Remove choice flowerets (2 cups) after first 5 minutes and reserve.

4When remaining broccoli is tender, crush with potato masher.

5In the microwave, melt

6butter and then add flour, evaporated milk, milk, salt, onion powder and Velveeta cheese. Cook until thickened.

7Add to crushed broccoli.

8Just before serving, add reserved flowerets.

9Serve piping hot.
