- 3 c. bran cereal
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 c. raisins or dates or prunes
- 3 c. buttermilk
- 3 Tbsp. dark corn syrup
- 3 c. sifted flour
- 3 tsp. soda
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Mix first 5 ingredients.

2Let stand 5 minutes.

3Add the rest; mix until flour is dampened.

4Fill oiled cans a little more than half full.

5Place in cold oven.

6Bake at 325°.

7Bake about 40 minutes.

8Let set a little before you loosen them.

9Run a serrated knife around the sides and they will slowly slide out.

10Makes 7 cans.

11Tastes better the longer it sets.

12Can use more nuts, prunes and raisins.
