  • 4 c. whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 tsp. soda
  • 4 c. lo-fat buttermilk
  • applesauce

Directions

    Combine flours, brown sugar, salt and soda in a large bowl. Add buttermilk gradually, mixing well after each addition.

    Add applesauce.

    Pour into 2 greased 5 x 9-inch loaf pans.

    Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until loaves test done.

    Invert onto wire rack. Slice and serve warm.
