Ingredients

  • 2 lb. beef stew meat
  • 4 c. hot water
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 small bay leaves or 1 large
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • pinch of allspice
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • carrots
  • potatoes
  • onions
  • Bisquick (for dumplings)

Directions

    Brown meat (after coating with flour in bag) in oil.

    Add all ingredients, except vegetables and Bisquick.

    Cook 1 1/2 hours. Add vegetables and cook until potatoes are tender.

    Follow instructions on Bisquick box for dumplings and add to stew.
