- 1 (18 1/4 oz.) pkg. German chocolate cake mix
- 1 (14 oz.) pkg. light caramels
- 2/3 c. evaporated milk, divided
- 1 stick butter or margarine, melted
- 1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions

1Combine cake mix, 1/3 cup evaporated milk and butter.

2Spread half of batter in 9 x 13-inch pan.

3Bake 6 minutes at 350°. Meanwhile, melt caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk.

4Pour chocolate chips over baked dough.

5Spread with caramel mixture, then 1 cup of nuts.

6Spoon remaining cake batter over layer of chocolate, caramels and nuts.

7Sprinkle remaining nuts on top. Bake 20 minutes.

8Cool, then cut in squares.
