- 3/4 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 sq. (2 oz.) unsweetened chocolate
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. broken nuts
Directions

1Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.

2Melt chocolate with shortening over hot water and beat in sugar and eggs.

3Add dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.

4Stir in nuts.

5Spread in well-greased square pan, 8 x 8 x 2-inches.

6Bake in moderate oven at 350° until top has full crust, about 30 to 35 minutes.

7When done, a slight imprint will be left when top is touched lightly with finger.

8Cool and cut into squares before removing from pan. Makes 16 (2-inch) squares.
