- 1/2 c. margarine or butter
- 2 oz. (2 sq.) unsweetened chocolate or 2 envelopes premelted unsweetened baking chocolate flavor
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2/3 c. all-purpose or unbleached flour
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts (if desired)
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2Grease (not oil) and lightly flour bottom of an 8 or 9-inch square pan.

3In a large saucepan, melt margarine and chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly.

4Remove from heat; cool slightly.

5Blend in sugar.

6Beat in eggs, one at a time.

7Stir in remaining ingredients.

8Spread in prepared pan. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes or until set in center.

9Cool; cut into bars.

10Makes 24 bars.
