Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 lb. lean chuck or rump roast
  • 1 Tbsp. paprika
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 (8 oz.) can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 6 small onions, quartered
  • 10 small carrots, sliced
  • 1 lb. 14 oz. can tomato sauce

Directions

    Trim excess fat from meat and cut in medium-sized pieces. Sprinkle with paprika, salt and pepper.

    Brown in hot oil in Dutch oven.

    Add water and bay leaf and cover and simmer 2 hours or until meat is tender.

    Place mushrooms, onions and carrots around and over meat.

    Pour in tomato sauce.

    Cover and simmer 60 minutes or until vegetables are tender.

    Serve with cooked noodles. Serves 6 to 8.
