Bubbat(Sausage Bread)

Ingredients

  • 1 cake yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. water
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • approximately 1 lb. smoked sausage
  • 3 1/2 to 4 c. flour

Directions

    Scald milk; cool to lukewarm.

    Add dissolved yeast, sugar, egg and salt.

    Add flour to make a soft dough.
  4. 4
    Let raise until double in size.

    Punch dough and divide.

    Put one layer of dough in well-greased 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan.

    Cover with sausage (make sure there is plenty of sausage); add another layer of dough.

    Let raise 30 to 45 minutes.

    Bake at 350° for at least one hour until well browned.
