- 1 1/2 lb. (1-inch) beef cubes
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 2 Tbsp. margarine
- 2 1/2 c. tomato juice
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. sweet basil
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 Tbsp. vinegar
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 1/2 c. thinly sliced onions
Directions

1Shake beef in bag with flour.

2Brown in electric or regular 10-inch fry

3pan.

4Combine next 7 ingredients and add to browned meat.

5Add onions and bay leaf.

6Cook.

7Simmer, covered, for 2 hours until tender and liquid is of gravy consistency.

8Serve over hot rice, seasoned with butter and parsley over buttered noodles or mashed potatoes.

9Discard bay leaf.
