  • 2/3 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 1/3 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs (unbeaten)
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Cream butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

    Sift dry ingredients together; add alternately with milk and vanilla.

    Bake in a greased and floured loaf pan (9 1/2 x 5 1/2-inch) at 325° for 1 1/2 hours.

    Cool pan 5 minutes; turn out on rack until cold.
