Butter Pound Cake

  • 1 lb. soft butter
  • 1 (1 lb.) box powdered sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 c. cake flour, sifted
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract or other flavoring

    Mix butter and sugar with beater.

    Cream well.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.

    Add flour, one cup at a time.

    Mix until smooth.

    Spoon into a 9-inch, floured tube pan. Bake at 325° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

    Cool before turning out onto wire rack to cool.
