- 2 cups flour
- 4 tsp. CALUMET Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1 cup buttermilk
Directions

1Heat oven to 450F.

2Mix flour with baking powder, salt, cream of tartar and baking soda.

3Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4Add buttermilk; stir with fork until soft dough is formed.

5Place dough on lightly floured board; knead 20 times.

6Pat or roll lightly until dough is 1/2-inch thick.

7Cut with floured 2- or 3-inch cookie cutter.

8Brush with melted butter.

9Bake on ungreased baking sheet about 12 minutes.

10Brush with melted butter again.
-
11Makes 18 two-inch or 7 three-inch biscuits.
