- 2 cups self-rising flour
- 14 cup shortening
- 14 teaspoon baking soda
- 34 cup buttermilk
Directions

1Set aside 1/4 cup of the flour.

2Cut shortening into remaining flour.

3Add soda to buttermilk, and stir into flour mixture.

4Use the 1/4 cup flour you set aside to flour board or counter and knead the dough.

5When the dough is easier to work with, roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick.

6(Don't knead long at all, it will make the biscuits tough.

8Cut with floured round cutter.

9Bake at 400 degrees F until brown - about 10-12 minutes.
