- 2 cups flour
- 4 tsp. CALUMET Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted, divided
Directions

1Preheat oven to 450F.

2Mix flour, baking powder, salt, cream of tartar and baking soda in large bowl until well blended.

3Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4Add buttermilk; stir with fork until mixture forms a soft dough.

5Place on lightly floured surface; knead 20 times or until smooth.

6Pat or roll out dough to 1/2-inch-thickness.

7Cut into circles with floured 2-inch cookie cutter.

8Place on ungreased baking sheet.

9Brush with half of the butter.

10Bake 12 minutes or until golden brown.

11Brush with remaining butter.
