Buttermilk Pecan Pie

  • 1 1/4 c. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/4 c. buttermilk or margarine
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 unbaked pie shell

    Combine sugar, flour and salt.

    Add egg yolks, buttermilk, butter and pecans; beat well.

    Beat egg whites and cream of tartar at room temperature until stiff peaks form.

    Fold into buttermilk mixture.

    Pour mixture into unbaked pie shell; bake for 45 minutes at 375°.
