Buttermilk Pound Cake

  • 1 c. Crisco shortening
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 tsp. lemon flavor

Directions

    Mix Crisco and sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time; mix well. Sift together flour, salt and soda.

    Add alternately with buttermilk.

    Add flavoring; beat 5 minutes.

    Bake in tube pan (greased and floured) at 325° for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until done.
