- 1 c. hot water
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 4 Tbsp. shortening
- 4 c. self-rising flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in hot water and buttermilk.

2Add sugar and shortening.

3Blend in 2 cups flour until elastic.

4Add 2 more cups flour.

5Roll, cut and dip in hot butter.

6Fold as for a pocketbook.

7Place in a pan.

8Let rise until double in bulk (about 3 hours).

9Bake at 400° for 20 minutes.

10Rub butter on top of hot rolls.
