- 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1/3 c. granulated sugar
- 1/3 c. brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/3 c. sifted flour
- 3/4 tsp. baking soda
- 3/4 tsp. vanilla
- 1/3 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Melt butter and shortening.

2Add sugars.

3Mix well.

4Add egg. Beat until light colored.

5Sift together flour and baking soda. Stir in shortening mixture.

6Add flour, vanilla and nuts.

7Shape in rolls 1 1/2 inches in diameter.

8Roll in waxed paper.

9Chill thoroughly.

10Bake on ungreased cookie sheet in moderate oven at 375° for 10 minutes.

11Makes 4 dozen cookies.
