- 3 egg yolks
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 3 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 c. milk
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 pie shell
Directions

1Beat egg yolks with sugar.

2Mix cornstarch with a little water to make smooth paste.

3Add to first mixture, then add milk and salt.

4Cook in double boiler until thick.

5Remove from stove and add butter and vanilla.

6Cool.

7Add beaten whites of eggs or reserve for a meringue.

8Pour into a baked crust.

9If meringue is used, spread on top and return to oven to brown.

10Whipped topping may be used instead of meringue.
