- 2 c. milk
- 1/4 c. Karo syrup
- 4 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 c. dark brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs, separated
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 9-inch baked pie crust
Directions

1Scald 1 3/4 cups milk with Karo in top of double boiler over boiling water.

2Blend cornstarch and remaining 1/4 cup milk in small bowl.

3Mix in sugar and salt.

4Add egg yolks and beat until well blended.

5Add quickly, all at once, to scalded milk and stir constantly until thickened.

6Cover and cook 5 to 7 minutes longer. Remove from heat; add vanilla.

7Cool.

8Pour into baked pie crust. Cover with meringue and bake in 400° oven for 8 to 10 minutes until brown.
