- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted
- 8 to 9 double graham crackers
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate morsels
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. milk
- 3/4 c. chopped walnuts
Directions

1Cream shortening and sugar.

2Add eggs, beating well.

3Combine flour, salt and soda; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, mixing well after each addition.

4Stir in the vanilla. Place 1/3 of batter in another bowl and add unsweetened chocolate and walnuts to this mixture.

5Spread chocolate and mixture in a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.

6Arrange 8 to 9 double graham crackers over batter.

7Add chocolate morsels to remaining 2/3 batter and drop by spoonfuls over graham crackers.

8Spread batter to cover.

9Bake at 375° for 25 minutes.

10Cool and cut into bars. Yields 3 dozen.
