Cabbage Au Gratin

- 1 medium head cabbage
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- salt to taste
- 3/4 c. evaporated milk
- 1 1/2 c. grated cheese
- 1/2 c. fine dry bread crumbs
- 2 Tbsp. melted margarine
Directions

1Slice cabbage into saucepan.

2Add salt and just enough water to cover.

3Boil uncovered until tender.

4Drain, saving water. Melt butter; blend with flour.

5Add milk and 3/4 cup cabbage water.

6Stir constantly until thickened.

7Salt to taste.

8Place layer of cabbage in casserole.

9Pour part of sauce over and part of cheese.
-
10Repeat, ending with cheese on top.

11Sprinkle with crumbs, which have been tossed with 2 tablespoons melted margarine.

12Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.
