Cabbage Casserole

- 1 medium head cabbage, shredded (if desired)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 5 Tbsp. butter
- 1 (10 3/4 oz.) can condensed cream of mushroom soup (undiluted)
- 8 oz. process American cheese, cubed
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 small can Durkee French fried onions
Directions

1Cook cabbage in boiling salt water until tender; drain thoroughly.

2In a large skillet, saute onion in butter until tender.

3Add soup and mix well.

4Add cheese; heat and stir until melted.

5Remove from heat.

6Stir in cabbage, salt and pepper. Transfer to an ungreased 2-quart baking dish.

7Sprinkle Durkee onions on top.

8Bake, uncovered, 20 to 30 minutes at 350° or until heated through.
