- 1 cabbage (medium)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. margarine
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 2 c. milk
- pepper to taste
- 1 c. crushed saltine crackers
- 2 Tbsp. flour (self-rising)
- 1 pkg. Cheddar cheese, grated
Directions

1Shred cabbage with knife.

2Cook cabbage in pot with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1 tablespoon margarine until tender.

3Make a white sauce by combining 2 cups milk, 2 tablespoons margarine, 2 tablespoons self-rising flour and 1/2 teaspoon salt and bring to a boil over medium heat.

4Stir constantly as sauce begins to thicken.

5Drain cabbage and mix with sauce.

6In a casserole dish alternately layer cabbage mixture and cheese ending with cheese on top.

7Sprinkle saltines on top.

8Place in 350° oven until cheese melts.
