Cabbage Casserole

  • 1 medium head cabbage
  • 1 lb. ground meat
  • 1/4 c. green onions
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 c. boiled rice
  • 1/4 c. bread crumbs
  • 1/2 stick margarine
  • seasoning to taste

Directions

    Cut cabbage as you would to smother and boil in salted water until tender, but still green.

    Drain and reserve the liquid. Melt margarine in a deep skillet; fry ground meat with onion, garlic and seasoning until brown.

    Mix cabbage with the meat, adding mushroom soup, green onion tops and boiled rice.

    Pour into a greased flat Pyrex baking dish.

    Top with bread crumbs.

    Bake for 20 to 30 minutes at 300°.

    Before baking it too dry, add water from cabbage or more soup.
