Cabbage Casserole

Ingredients
- 1 large head cabbage, shredded (about 12 c.)
- 1 onion, chopped
- 6 Tbsp. butter or oleo, divided
- 1 (10 3/4 oz.) can condensed cream or mushroom soup, undiluted
- 8 oz. process American cheese, cubed
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 c. dry bread crumbs
Directions

1Cook cabbage in salted boiling water until tender.

2Drain thoroughly.

3Cook 10 to 15 minutes.

4In skillet saute onion in 5 tablespoons butter until tender.

5Add soup and mix well.

6Add cheese and stir to melt.

7Remove from heat.

8Stir in cabbage, salt and pepper.

9Transfer to ungreased 2-quart baking dish.

10In a small skillet, cook crumbs in melted butter.

11Sprinkle over casserole.

12Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 20 to 30 minutes.

13Serves 6 to 8 people or 11 people, if used on buffet.
