- 12 large cabbage leaves
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 c. Minute rice
- 1/4 tsp. onion salt
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 2 (No. 303) cans stewed tomatoes
- butter
Directions

1Blanch cabbage in boiling water with bay leaf.

2Mix together uncooked rice, salt, pepper, meat, egg, onion salt and nutmeg. Shape into rolls; this mixture should make 12 rolls, about 3 inches long.

3Wrap the rolls, envelope fashion, in wilted cabbage leaves.

4Arrange carefully and snugly in a shallow cooking utensil.

5Cover with tomato sauce to which an equal amount of water has been added and the stewed tomatoes.

6Dot with butter and simmer gently on top of stove or in moderate oven for 1 hour.
