  • 12 large cabbage leaves, simmered in boiling water for 3 minutes
  • 1 c. cooked rice (or instant)
  • 1/3 c. water
  • 1 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. thyme
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar

Directions

    Mix rice, water, salt, thyme, egg, onion and pepper.

    Mix in hamburger.

    Put 1/4 cup meat mixture in each cabbage leaf and roll up.

    Mix tomato sauce, lemon juice and brown sugar; pour on top. Simmer 1 hour in 350° oven.
