  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2 sq. chocolate
  • 2 well beaten eggs
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. each: baking powder and salt
  • 1 c. broken walnuts

    Melt shortening with chocolate in microwave or over low heat; stir.

    Cool.

    Stir sugar into beaten eggs, then chocolate mixture and vanilla.

    Add sifted dry ingredients.

    Stir in nuts.

    Bake in greased 8 x 8-inch pan at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.
