- 3 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 c. granulated sugar
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 1/2 c. coarsely chopped Diamond walnuts
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Into mixing bowl, sift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt.

2Cut in shortening.

3Stir in 1 1/4 cups of walnuts.

4Add egg, milk and vanilla; mix until ingredients are blended.

5Turn into greased and floured 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.

6Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup walnuts over top.

7Bake at 350° for 60 to 70 minutes, or until loaf tests done.

8Let stand in pan 10 minutes.

9Turn out onto wire rack to cool.

10Makes 1 loaf.
