- 16 lb. cucumbers
- 2 c. sack salt to 1 gal. water
- 1/2 box alum
- 1 gal. apple cider vinegar
- 10 lb. sugar
- pickling spice to taste
Directions

1Soak whole cucumbers in salt water for 14 days.

2Remove from salt water; slice and soak overnight in 1/2 box alum water. Remove from alum water.

3Rinse and soak in 1 gallon apple cider vinegar for 6 hours.

4Remove from vinegar.

5Pour vinegar out.

6Put pickles and sugar in layers with spice.

7Use 10 pounds sugar.

8Let stand in stone or glass jar for several days before using. Pickles do not have to be sealed.
