Ingredients

  • 2 c sugar
  • 2 c flour
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/2 c Crisco
  • 4 Tbsp cocoa
  • 1 c water
  • 1/2 c buttermilk
  • 2 slightly beaten eggs
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions

    Mix sugar and flour in large bowl.

    Put margarine, Crisco, cocoa and water in pan and let come to a boil.

    Remove from heat and pour into flour and sugar mixture.

    Add buttermilk and 2 eggs to mixture; beat well.

    Sprinkle 1 teaspoon soda over batter; mix well and add vanilla.

    Pour into greased and floured 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
