  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 lb. brown sugar
  • 1 c. light corn syrup
  • 1 (15 oz.) can condensed milk
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Melt butter in heavy saucepan.

    Add brown sugar and salt. Stir until combined and add corn syrup.

    Mix well and add condensed milk.

    Keep mixture on medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture reaches 244°.

    Use more than 1 thermometer as the mixture coats the thermometer and is not accurate when heavily coated. When correct temperature is reached, remove from heat and add vanilla.

    Mix well and pour into oiled pan.

    When cold, cut into squares, dip in chocolate or wrap in plastic wrap to keep moist.
