- 6 medium-size apples (stems removed)
- 1 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. white corn syrup
- 1 (14 oz.) can Eagle Brand condensed milk
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Insert a wooden skewer into each apple (washed and dried). Set aside.

2In heavy saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, milk and salt.

3Mix well.

4Cook over medium heat, stirring gently but constantly to 230° on candy thermometer or until small amount dropped in cold water forms a soft ball, about 30 minutes.

5Remove from heat; cool slightly.

6Stir in butter and vanilla.

7Working quickly, dip apples in caramel to coat well.

8Place apples, stem side up, to harden on buttered wax paper.
